Commonly asked questions:

What is the first lesson like, and how long does it take?

Your first lesson begins with a comprehensive assessment of your dog’s behavior, environment, and daily routines. We’ll talk through your goals and create a personalized training plan tailored to your dog and lifestyle.

During this session, we also introduce foundational lifestyle and walking routines that establish calm leadership and a strong relationship — the base for all future training.

The first session typically lasts up to 90 minutes.

How many lessons will my dog need?

The number of lessons depends on your dog’s age, history, and the behaviors you want to address.

  • New puppies: A 4-lesson starter package is usually a great place to begin.

  • Behavior challenges or reactivity: Most dogs require 4–8 lessons, based on the assessment completed during the first visit.

Our goal is to give you the structure and skills you need for long-term success — not to keep you in training longer than necessary.

How often are training sessions scheduled?

For best results, we recommend weekly sessions, as long as you’re able to practice consistently between lessons.

With very young puppies, sessions can be spaced every 1–2 weeks, provided routines and walks are maintained at home. Most training programs take 1–2 months to complete, depending on goals and consistency.

Do you offer in-home dog training?

Yes. All training is conducted in your home and neighborhood, where real-life behaviors occur. This allows us to address issues like walking, barking, and household routines in the environment that matters most.

Will I need to practice between sessions?

Yes. Your progress depends on consistent practice between lessons. We provide clear guidance and routines along with review sheets so you know exactly what to work on — no guessing or overwhelm.

Is this training right for reactive or anxious dogs?

Yes. Many of our clients come to us for leash reactivity, anxiety, or overstimulation. Our calm, structured approach helps dogs feel secure and reduces reactive behaviors over time.Do you use treats or correction-based methods?

We focus on relationship-based training that emphasizes structure, leadership, and communication. Food rewards may be used strategically, but long-term success comes from building trust and calm guidance — not reliance on treats.
